 1. Europe's E3 Triggers UN 'Snapback' Sanctions on Iran

Britain, France and Germany khown collectively as the E3 announced Thursday thar they have formally moved to trigger the UN "snapback" sanctions mechanism against Iran. Under the 2015 unclear deal (JCPOA), this process forces the re-imposition of all previous UN sanctions within 30 days, regardless of opposition from other Security Council members.

The sanctions include bans on arms imports and exports, restrictions on Iran's access to the international banking system, limits on its oil and gas trade, and strict financial monitoring.

Iran immediately denounced the move warning that it would restrict cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).  The IAEA recently reported that Iran is enriching uranium up to 60% purity far above civilian energy requirements, though still below weapons grade.

European diplomats acknowledge that the snapback could further destabilize the Middle East and drive up global oil prices, adding pressure to an already tense geopolitical environment.
